iPod Wars
Style over substance, or practicality above everything else; which iPod reigns supreme? Debuted together earlier this month, the iPod Touch and iPod Classic is set to take over the MP3 world. Each one with a totally different style, yet so similar in so many ways. Are you having a hard time choosing which is best? Let us help you then, it’s time we took apart what makes each iPod great. In this article we present the best and whatever flaws each may have. Then armed with new knowledge, you can then choose the iPod to best fit your lifestyle.
iPOD CLASSIC – A fifth generation iPod, spawned from years of experience, this Classic has been improved and given a well deserved makeover. No longer sporting the Brushed Metal Cover of its past; it has now been given a sleek steel front and a stainless steel back. Able to hold a multitude of songs, videos, movies, TV shows and pictures, this iPod is definitely worthy of praise.
Just a few setbacks for this revamped classic: First, at 4.9 to 5.7 ounces – it proves a little too heavy for some of its owners. Second, with the attempt to pack as much in the iPod classic as possible, it looks chunky at 0.53 inches wide. Also the “supposedly” time conserving “Cover Flow” features; slows down this iPod instead of helping it out. Despite all these, the iPod Classic still remains a staple for the music, video and photo packrat, allowing you to have everything you need in the palm of your hand.
iPOD TOUCH – Hands down, this iPod is truly revolutionary masterpiece in the MP3 world. With its Multi-Touch Screen Interface, and features so similar to that of the widely popular iPhone, it’s no wonder that the iPod Touch has been dubbed as the “iPhone-like iPod”. With a wide user interface, it assures you viewing pleasure with the hassles of squinting. This iPod leaves Apple’s signature Click Wheel behind for the state of the art Multi-Touch Screen. The “Cover Flow” feature (which emulates going through a stack of vinyl) works for this iPod, making song choosing easier. You can thumb through the album art in your music collection, pick a cover, flip it over, choose a song from the track list and start playing. Then there’s the “Accelerometer” that senses when you change position from portrait to landscape and immediately changes the user interface display to give you better viewing.
A few things that are not so desirable with this iPod are as follows: There have been reports form buyers, and even Apple has admitted that some of the units out in stores have problems with the contrast; the dark areas appear to be so much darker while the light areas too light. The cover has been reported to be easily scuffed and fingerprints are hard to clean from the stainless steel back.
In any case, the decision is up to you. The specs have been presented. Now go and choose the iPod best for you and your lifestyle.
At Present, the latest generation of iPod was released on 05 September, 2007. Introduced were the iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, iPod Classic, and the much hyped iPod Touch. With all of iPod’s success it can be safe to say that we have not seen the last installment of this amazing MP3 player.

The iPod Touch will become a clear winner once flash memory becomes cheaper so the storage will be larger.
